Announcing a new Meetup for PROVIDENT LIVING & SELF-RELIANCE!
What: Protecting Your Family From the Coming Inflation With Gold and Silver
When: Thursday, January 13, 2011 7:00 PM
Where: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
4304 Hillsboro Rd
Nashville, TN 37215
We are pleased to have Mark Henline presenting at our January Meetup. Mark's background is rich with experience. He is extremely passionate about the need to protect our families from the coming inflation which deficit spending and money printing will bring.
His presentation, in the form of a persuasive argument, will cover:
1. A brief history of money, and in particular, why gold and silver are the best stores of value.
2. The history of money in the U.S., and, how we have moved from a gold-backed currency to a paper- backed currency.
3. Why deficit spending is so insidious, and, how it robs families of their wealth and freedom.
4. Why gold and silver can protect you from the coming inflation, and, the best way to own gold and silver.
5. I will bring physical examples of silver that can be purchased easily and without a large cash commitment.
6. I have 25 years of experiencing in owning and investing in gold, silver and other precious metal related investments.
7. This presentation is for anyone who wants to preserve their purchasing power during times of inflation and hyperinflation.
An overhead projector will also be used for a Powerpoint Presentation.
(The views expressed are the views of the presenter)

A Big Thank You!
Wow! The fair was fantastic!!! We want each of you to know just how much we appreciate all of your preparation, time, and dedication to making the fair a success!!! Many many many people commented on how much they learned and how impressed they were with the classes, presentations, each and every booth, the yummy food, and the whole experience all together. Attendees walked away with very valuable information and hands-on experience with all aspects of preparedness. Saturday, we witnessed countless miracles as people came together to share their enthusiasm with friends, neighbors, and each other. Preparedness truly magnifies who we are and what we can achieve. It was Provident Living at its best!

FEMA Crisis Counseling
Dear Sisters:
Below is an e-mail shared by Pat Woodmansee/Maury County Emergency Team, concerning potential full-time job opportunities in our stake boundaries. Please share this information with the bishops, employment specialists and sisters in your units. These positions will fill quickly, but may be a great opportunity for those looking for full-time employment for the next year.
Thank you,
Lynette Harris, Secretary
Franklin Stake Relief Society
As Centerstone looks to receive a FEMA grant to provide "Crisis Counseling" for the next 60 days (and more than likely an extension for another 10 months for a one year grant), I am going to be in need of 11 Crisis Counselors; these are full time positions paying hopefully around $20 per hour. These individuals will be working in 14 counties of middle Tennessee that Centerstone covers and were declared disaster counties by the President. The counties are:
Columbia Area
Hickman
Lawrence
Lewis
Maury
Perry
Wayne
Clarksville Area
Cheatham
Dickson
Houston
Humphreys
Montgomery
Robertson
Stewart
and sharing responsibility of Davidson county with the Mental Health Coop.
Their job will be community outreach; going door-to-door checking on people impacted by the floods and attending community meetings of flood victims, etc.
These positions do not require a mental health degree or experience. Training will be provided by FEMA to these individuals prior to there "hitting the streets" on psychological first aid.
Please pass this information along to anyone you might know of that lives in any of these areas that might be looking for a full time job for the next year and that you think would be a good fit?
Tell them they can contact me via my e-mail and to also include your name in their e-mail to me.
Thanks.

Nashville flood relief opportunities

As the case in any disaster, the recovery phase is the longest part of the experience, and one that requires a strong and sustained effort from volunteers. While the events of the past 48 hours have created a sense of urgency, the real effects of volunteers are going to be felt through the rest of this week and month as we do the nitty-gritty work of cleaning, rebuilding, and restoring.

Visiting Teaching Interviews
Hello Sisters,
During the next couple of weeks, P. Seegmiller and I will be conducting Visiting Teaching Interviews with all of our Ward's Visiting Teachers. We just want to get some of your input and insight as to your calling as a Visiting Teacher, and also hear your thoughts or concerns regarding your companion or your route. We will begin these interviews this Sunday, April 18th, after church from 2:15 to 3:15. We only need 5 or 10 minutes of your time. We will also do the same thing on Tuesday, April 20th during mutual, from 7:00 to 8:30. We hope to hear from each of you during these two time periods, however, we will again do the same thing on Sunday, April 25th and Tuesday, April 27th.
Please e-mail me and let me know which day works better for you and even if there is a time that is better for you. I will keep a list that is first come first serve and let you know where I can fit you in. If you would rather call, my phone please do so. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
F. Strawbridge

Service opportunities for Primary Children

The Primary has been asked to help with 'The Day of Service' on April 24th. Although the primary children will not be actively involved on the 24th, we have been asked to donate new or gently used children's books for Mercy Clinic and children's shoes and adult shoes for Soles 4 Souls. Donation boxes will be located in the primary room and in the foyers at the church. If members are donating shoes, we ask that rubber bands be put around the shoes to keep them together.
Each week in Primary we will help the children get excited about being involved in the stake wide day of service by donating their old shoes and books to less fortunate children.

Go to the House of the Lord

“Attend the temple. You will be blessed for so doing. Every man or woman who goes into the house of the Lord leaves there a better man or woman than he or she was when he or she entered the house of the Lord. The house of the Lord will have a refining effect upon you. It will cultivate unselfishness within your lives. It will build righteousness. It will impress upon you the importance of doing what you ought to do. Go to the house of the Lord” President Gordon B. Hinckley

Quilts for Haiti
The Stake RS is providing a wonderful service opportunity. They will be making 50 quilts to send to Haiti. They need our help!! The immediate need is for king, queen, or twin flat sheets or fitted sheets with the elastic cut off and corner seams taken out. The sheets don't have to be new, they just need to to be in good condition with no stains, please. Sister Chris Grayson is heading up the project and would like the sheets this weekend, if possible. The sheets will be used for the backs of the quilts and she would like to match the backs to the fabric she will be purchasing for the fronts. We have ward conference this Sunday and it will be the perfect opportunity to hand the sheets off to the stake RS presidency then. If you'd like to bring the sheets to the clothing swap, we can set them aside for Sunday.
Also, there will be two opportunities to help put the quilts together - Thursday, March 11th and Thursday, March 18th at 9am at the Stake Center. If you quilt, bring your machine. If you don't quilt, bring your iron, ironing board, extension cords, scissors, etc.
There will be plenty to do for everyone!
Thank you so much for your help! I'm excited for this opportunity for us to serve and help others.

General Relief Society President
This past week while in Utah I was able to talk with Sister Julie B. Beck the General Relief Society President who happens to be a wonderful friend from my home town. While talking and catching up with her I mentioned that I was recently called to be RS Secretary in our ward here in Franklin, TN. Sister Beck was eager to tell me of her love for the wonderful Sisters in the Church, and asked me to express her love to each sister in our ward and her gratefulness for all that you do to serve the Lord.

Getting in the DIRT
PROVIDENT LIVING - NEW DATE!!!
Get excited about gardening! Always wanted to plant one? Come and learn how easy it can be. This month, we'll learn about the steps to planting and maintaining a thriving vegetable garden from Diane McFarren. We'll also have the opportunity to see how it's done first hand in a container garden with Kathy Elskamp! At each provident living meeting, we offer the opportunity to make an item or learn a new skill. Our project this month is a Container Garden. This is an optional activity and the material cost is $13.60. Do one along with us, or you can watch how it's done at the meeting and make your own. Project is not required to attend. This is your chance to get a head-start on Spring with provident living! Join us on our NEW DATE TUESDAY, MARCH 16TH, 7-9 pm at the church. Make checks out to Christine Brady or you can pay online here at http://www.meetup.com/PROVIDENTLIVING/. Money is due to Christine Brady by March 7th. For questions, contact Christine Brady, (615) 591-0027, livebyfaith22@gmail.com or Trish Nabrotzky, (615) 478-2259, tnabrotzky@hotmail.com or go to the website for more information www.meetup.com/PROVIDENTLIVING/.

Sign-up to attend a class on Dry Pack Canning from Bishop and Sis. Maples
Saturday, February 27th 1:00 pm
Want to learn how to can your food? Come with us TOMORROW down to the Maples Cannery and become your own expert. Bishop and Janice Maples will be walking us through from start to finish on how to use their cannery. Following, we will get our own hands-on experience and be able to can some wheat. There is no obligation to buy anything, we just wanted you to be able to get the experience so you can see how simple and easy it really is. If you would like to purchase some already canned food, the Maples usually have a shelf full to choose from. You won't want to miss this great learning opportunity.
Interested in carpooling? Meet at Trish Nabrotzky’s home, 2232 Oakleaf Drive at 12:15pm. It takes about 25 minutes to get there from the Nabrotzky home. Please be sure to let us know if you would like to carpool so we can plan accordingly (and so we don’t leave without you *smile*). If you are driving on your own, the Maples address is 2012 Bellwood Court, Columbia 38401. E-mail tnabrotzky@hotmail.com and let us know if you are coming, so that we will know to look for you!
If you are planning to attend, even if you are not carpooling, let us know with an email to tnabrotzky@hotmail.com so we can give Sis. Maples an approximate of how may people to plan for.
